The 10 Cents a Meal application is now available in the Next Generation Grant Application and Cash Management System (NexSys) application system! Here are the highlights and some helpful reminders.
This year our 10 Cents a Meal for Michigan Kids and Farms (10 Cents a Meal) application is within our Next Generation Grant Application and Cash Management System (NexSys) application system, replacing MEGS+. In order to access this application, you will need to know how to access NexSys properly. See the directions on how to access and complete the application at this link.
As part of the application process, the applicant must complete a short, online introductory training and receive a score of 8/10 or better on quiz at the end. Complete the form at the end of the page and you will receive an email confirmation of course completion. You will need to upload documentation of training completion in the 10 Cents a Meal application when prompted. Access the training at this link.

Application Reminders
Any invoice information for purchases of eligible foods dating back to September 1, 2022 will be reimbursable for the 2022-2023 program year.
Sponsors will be eligible for a total grant that is 10 cents times every meal served last year.
All sponsors of Child Nutrition programs are eligible for this funding, if you receive payments directly from MDE. If you participate under an agreement with another sponsor, please work with them to get involved.
Aligning 10 Cents a Meal with Other Programs:
If you are participating in other programs such as the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, USDA Foods, Department of Defense Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, Local Food For Schools, Supply Chain Assistance funds, or the Unprocessed Fruit and Vegetable Pilot Program – those transactions (with supportive documentation that shows the name of the farm where it was grown and the county the farm is in) can be used as part of meeting your match requirement.
