Comment on Synder’s Renewable Energy Report

October 14, 2013 |

There are lots of happy faces around our office since the Snyder administration released its draft report on renewable energy. Based on last winter’s energy forums, it says we can get to 30 percent renewable energy by 2035 without straining the power grid—or our wallets!

But the report is subject to some revision before it’s finalized, which is why we’re reaching out: We’d like you to chime in, reinforce the draft report’s findings, and nudge those good folks a bit—while “30 by 35” is good, we’d like them to look closely at 35 and 40 percent, and getting there before 2035. All that means is maintaining the same pace we’ve been seeing—adding 1-1/2 percent per year.

So…if you’re willing…here’s a link to our Friday news article on the report and what our clean energy allies are saying.

Then, here’s another link to talking points our renewables pals have cooked up to help you out. There’s plenty to choose from—pick a few faves for a short note.

Then, go to the forum comment page and you’ll see what to do. You have to register, but it’s easy and your comments are posted without attribution.

Finally—when your done, please drop me a note at jimdulzo@mlui.org so we can tally MLUI’s participation. There’s a bit of a friendly contest among our coalition members, so we want credit where credit is due!

Oh…and this needs to be done by Wednesday evening, Oct. 16…so I hope you can jump on it sometime today. It really is easy, and it’s really about letting the state know there’s LOTS of support for what is, in these rather crazy times, a pretty bold stand.

Thanks so much—and do enjoy the day and this fine opportunity to continue to influence Lansing’s thinking on clean energy, which does seem to be steadily improving.
