She trained as a lawyer, is devoted to small town connections, and loves the outdoors—especially small creeks. Our chief development officer Amy MacKay brings the kind of intellectual and emotional understanding that is ideal for helping people connect to the work and mission of Groundwork. “I love showing people ways they can lend their time, talent and resources to furthering something they believe in,” she says. “I also encourage people to introduce their own circle of friends to Groundwork, and become ambassadors themselves.”
With her deep devotion to a healthy environment, Amy especially looks forward to helping expand Groundwork’s clean energy and smart transportation programs. Fresh solutions in these areas will sharply reduce the environmental impact of industrial-age fossil fuel technologies, reducing CO2 emissions, lessening toxic air pollutants and lowering the risk of oil spills—which mean greater health for everybody.
The most rewarding part of her work? “Seeing people step up to support and experience the real joy of knowing they are making something good happen. Often it's a very specific campaign that they are really passionate about – like decommissioning Line 5 or helping one more child at their favorite school eat a healthy lunch, or knowing that one more town has resolved to meet its needs for electricity with solar power. Stuff like that!”
